Euthanasia is the act of a physician or other third party ending a patient’s life in response to severe pain and suffering. In recent society, with increasing of the medical science, euthanasia becomes a disputed topic. Is that euthanasia legally or not? Some people agree that to use euthanasia end of a patient’s life if he/she suffers incurable disease, it provides a way to relieve extreme pain. However, other people think this way is illegalized because it breaches the nature. Nevertheless, there are many important areas we should deeply think about it rather than give a simple view. In my opinion, I support that a terminally ill patient can use euthanasia because the affliction, financial and human right.
First of all, affliction refers to condition or cause of suffering. It does not mean that the patients lose their aspiration to live in this world, it just because they finally cannot stand the disease bring such enormous agony both to their body and spirit and they are totally paralyzed to do anything except breathing. Take a patient as an example who suffer from the terminal cancer, Actually deep down in his hearts, he wants to combat and live on, but the reality is, the probability of being totally cured is too slight to motivate him to fight with the great physical pain. He knows distinctly that however stoutly the fight with the disease, he also will meet Azrael before long. Hence he loses the courage and aspiration to live on. Worse still, besides rendering him nothing but laying on bed day and night, the devil disease tormented them by posing enormous body pain. Based on all these brutal facts, they feel little sense and spices of life. In this case, how can a doctor and the patient’s family member still let them stand this kind of pains? If we do not help them implement euthanasia, then they may probably conduct more extreme and cruel methods to end their lives, such as hanging, shooting, etc. In this sense, our well-intentioned which wants they live more time in this world has become inhumane! With the aids of euthanasia, they can go to heaven placidly, with smile on their face, which indicates the end of agony eternally. So the best way to deal with it is allow them to use euthanasia to end their life with a happy way.
Next, financial also is a problem that allow patients to use euthanasia in legally way. This is another reason to support mercy killing is that medical costs are very high. Today the cost of hospital room can be as much as $1,450 per day for basic care, which does not include the cost of specialized care or the use of special equipment. The high cost of medical care can cause financial problems for the family. Think this question more detail, how can a poor family undertake this kind of huge bill to cure the patient? And dose the patient will not feeling that he/she bring such a burden to their family? Why this two party worry about the problem? The reason is they lack of money. For example, Charles Adkins’ eighty-two-year-old wife lived in a nursing home in a coma for four years. Since there was no chance for her recovery, Mr. Adkins requested that the medical staff withhold treatment. However, his pleas were ignored. Soon after she died, Mr. Adkins was billed $250,000 for his wife’s medical care. The courts ordered him to pay the bill, which must have placed a terrible financial burden on him. (Extracted from “Introduction to academic writing” by Alice Oshima & Ann Hougue.) From this sample we can know it is no easy for an elderly man to afford this huge bill.
Human rights are “rights and freedom” to which all human are entitled. The final reason to support the legalization of the euthanasia is the patient’s human rights. Human rights include the patient’s personal choice and their freedom. Take personal choice as an example, for an incurable disaster, if they want to choose use euthanasia to end of his/her physical affliction, can we stop them? Of course the answer is no. The reason is that is the way to help them to free themselves and no need to suffer the affliction anymore.
Overall, the several reasons to support the incurable patients to use euthanasia are legalized just because we don’t want them to undergo more painful which our common people cannot stand. So in my opinion, that is a good way to help them to go to heaven placidly, with smile on their face
